An apprenticeship is a real job with training. Apprentices earn while they learn, gaining valuable skills and knowledge of a specific job role whilst achieving the required components of their apprenticeship.
An apprenticeship is a fantastic way to develop your skills, knowledge, and expertise for your current and future roles.
There are four different levels of apprenticeship:
- Intermediate Level 2: Equivalent to five good GCSE passes.
- Advanced Level 3: Equivalent to two A-Level passes.
- Higher Level 4,5,6 and 7: Equivalent to the first stages of higher educations (HE) such as a foundation degree.
- Degree Level 6 and 7: Comparable to a bachelors or masters degree.
How is it funded?
Apprenticeship training costs are fully funded through the RDaSH apprenticeship levy fund.
The levy does not include funding for travel, therefore all travel costs associated with apprenticeships needs to be self-funded or come out of departmental budgets. We encourage staff to look for local training providers to minimise costs and/or national providers that offer distance learning (online teaching) opportunities.
What is apprenticeship first?
RDaSH is committed to improving opportunities to get into work with us via apprenticeships. Our apprenticeship first approach means that all band 2 and band 3 vacancies will be advertised with the option to undertake an apprenticeship. This approach will enable growth in apprenticeship levy spend, support widening participation of underrepresented communities in our workforce.
Where will the roles be advertised?
The roles will be advertised via trac jobs, NHS jobs (opens in new window), RDaSH work for us sites and on the government national apprenticeship service. To support widening participation of underrepresented communities in our workforce and contribute to the delivery of our promise 9 objective to consistently exceed our apprenticeship levy requirements from 2025, our recruitment team also target recruitment via our community partners who support people with learning disabilities and difficulties, care leavers, refugees, and armed forces.
